It has been long since I last wrote, am I too tired to write or have my creative juices run out … I am not that old, but in my minds eye life seems to have overtaken and overwhelmed me in these new age times. So today I sit here, laptop in hand, fingers on my keyboard (happy I have been able to bang out 2 pages of a potential 50 page report), and wondering where am I standing along this path of life.
What happens to you does not matter
How you respond to it does!
Grit and faith are foundations
Of how we see the world
Why all the pain and suffering
Why not just joy and happiness
A wise man told me Good is born out of bad, and bad out of good
How is that I asked?
A child is born through pain of labor
A new field of food growing from the ashes of a forest cut down
A sad memory is born of happy reminders of a person gone by
Raving hunger driven from a full belly
No valley is too deep, no cave is too dark
All trials and tribulations are tests
To define our paths
Refine our resolve
Mould us into the people we are meant to be
Smile during your tests
Laugh at your trials
And they too will pass
You will pick the lessons and grow along the way
The eternal optimist, I am
Proud to laugh at what life throws at me
I know better things are head ebirungi biri mu maaso
The future is always bright
The sun will always shine
April showers always lead to May flowers
Each time I fall down, is a chance to get up again
The robin sings
The dog barks
Let us smile, let us laugh, let us dream
A cold dreary evening
After the hot grind under the sky
Very tired but fully awake
I am slow but a little alive
The meat hot and spicy fills the belly
The pot of spiced tea quenches the burning thirst
A loud television in the background
The smell of food from the kitchen
The house calms down
As sleep takes hold of the noise makers
The fatigue of the day washes over the body
The warm blankets call to me
Then alas I wait for it …
Ears prickled
Nose bristled
Eyes open wide
Waiting for the sound of your song
The last soothing sound of the day
Mixing with the crickets on the window
And dog howls in the background
Sing your song
Take me far
Take me high
Take me along with you
Do not leave me behind
The night may be dark
I am not afraid
But do not leave me behind
I will make out the chirping
I will follow your voice
Sing to me
Before the moon comes out …
