2010 Thanksgiving Wishes

To all my friends, family, colleagues and clients in the United States, this is to wish a joyful fun-filled Thanksgiving.

During this time when family is at the fore-front of our minds, may you have safe travels and may the re-unions be all that you wish them to be.

The state of the economy may be the dark cloud that hangs over all of us, remember behind every dark cloud, is a silver lining.

Terror in Kampala

At about midnight on Sunday July 11, 2010, during the world cup final match between Netherlands and Spain, a three bombs were detonated in Kampala; Kyaddondo Rugby club, home of the MTN Heathens; Ethiopian village in Kabalagagala a popular hangout area; and a club near the Suburb of Ntinda. As of July 13, 2010, there are 74 confirmed dead, and a number more in critical condition.

For a country without known terrorist violence, this came as a huge shock, and many people were scrambling to find out if any of their relatives were injured in the blasts. Al-Shabaab claims responsibility and promises to attack more civilian locations since “A friend of the United States is an enemy of ours”

Monday July 12, 2010, went like a daze, a bad hangover to be forgotten, checking up on friends and family to ensure that all were okay. Additional reports of possible attacks at a church in Balintuma between Nankulabye and Mengo did not help matters at all, and the defusing of two unexploded bombs in Makindye, near an army barracks crowned the day as a dark one.

The implications are that we are scared. I almost did not let my baby girl go to school this morning, but life has to go on. Stay away from crowds, but any shopping mall, public transportation stop, traffic jam, school, church, workplace in the central business district has innocent civilians. What are we to do

The first instinct is to turn and run, barricade all the doors, and find some one to blame, but life has to go on. The only way we can defeat terror is to go on with our lives, is to change them for the better and show that we are not scared, and use our will to make us strong and to go on

To those who lost their lives, may your souls rest in eternal peace.

To those who lost a loved one, a friend, a workmate, may the good Lord strengthen you during this trying time, of sorrow.

Oh Lord, please open our eyes to your grace, love, and arms so that we may rest our burdens on your shoulders. Please protect our loved ones as they go about their daily activities

Fathers Day

A wise man once told me, marriage has many pains attached to it but celibacy has no pleasures.

Parenthood is similar, many pains and challenges, but the rewards are so precious. A picture is worth a thousand words so I will say no more

Happy Fathers day to all u dads out there, its worth it every day
